Re: Tri-Toon vs. Pontoon Style Deck Boat I'm an old inboard outboard owner, and have had all kinds of boats and personal watercraft for 40 years. Since 1985, my main boat has been a 24' twin toon pontoon boat with a Yamaha 115 hp 2 stroke. It's a good size boat, will pull skiers well, but handles like a pig.
Many deck boats also have integrated wake tower options, which adds a distinct watersports profile. Handling. With a fiberglass, V-style hull, you typically would compare the handling of a deck boat to a similarly sized open-bow boat. Look for a stable ride at all speeds, little or no bowrise, and superior turning at higher speeds.
Deck boats, however, use v-hulls, which cut through the water while moving, allowing deck boats to accelerate more quickly than traditional pontoons. A pontoon boat trying to reach the same speed as a deck boat will require more fuel to do so; however, pontoons are much more fuel-efficient overall.
I am new to boating and would like to get some opinions on how deck boats compare to pontoon boats. I will be using the boat in the Bay at Ocean City. I like the amount of room that pontoon boats have, but some deck boats that I have looked at online seem to have plenty of room also, such as the
Re: Pontoon vs Deck boat i love my pontoon but if it is just going to be 6 of yall then you dont need a ton that big i love the deck boats also. if you like to ski more i would get the deck boat cause skiing behind my pon toon is great but it has no wake to jump. the deck boat that my oncle has is a 21 with a 140 suzuki and it is a great boat
As its popularity has gone through the roof, the pontoon boat has come to serve many, many purposes: sunning platform, wakeboard and water ski boat, cruiser, and yes, even as a fishing boat.
Yep, about the only real advantage of a deck boat over a pontoon boat is that the deck boat can get up on plane, ergo, it can run at higher speeds than a pontoon boat. Since a pontoon boat uses displacement hull the toons are considered as displacement hulls, they do cut through the water easier without needing much force, but a pontoon is
In this first video, I share my thoughts on Pontoon Vs. Deck boats to guide you even as you make decisions on the right boat to buy or use for your fishing and adventure.
Deck boats, in contrast, were the shiny, more expensive, more powerful boat with a little less comfort and seating capacity than a pontoon. Much has changed. With the addition of performance-enhancing features such as three logged pontoons and lifting strakes, pontoons now can rival or even exceed the performance of some deck boats.
Full-length under-deck performance shield, closed cell foam flotation blocks inside U-shaped pontoons, Faria helm gauges, Yamaha controls/key switch, Jensen Marine entertainment system w/ USB/iPod connection, dry storage for small items at the helm, Soft Touch furniture.
Every major pontoon boat manufacturer has three or four models of the same hulls. Many local dealers of other brands of boats are also willing to accept a lower profit margin than Tracker allows in their 1 price strategy.
The deck boats look a lot better than most pontoons, but the pontoons hold more stuff and people for the same sized deck boat. Get a pontoon with a 150HP plus motor, plus a Tritoon is GREAT for water sports.
Deck Boat vs Pontoon Boat: Summary Purchase a deck boat if you want to have an attractive look on the exterior and a smooth ride. Get a pontoon boat if you want plenty of space for standing and activities such as grilling.
Some pontooners even install a fire pit right in the deck of the playpen. Spending a day on just about any pontoon boat makes you feel like an instant millionairewithout spending tons of money on the fanciest pontoon boat to do so. One advantage that makes pontoon boats particularly comfortable is the stability of the ride.
Re: Deck Boat vs Pontoon boat I don't know where you live, but one of my clients in the Florida Keys has a 22 ft. Cobia deckboat with 200 hp Yamaha for sale at a very reasonable price. PM me if interested.
A pontoon boat is comprised of at least two or three cylinders called Pontoons, which attach to the underneath of a vast rectangular flat deck.
With a Seven Trust Sport Deck, you can have it all - room to entertain, hair-whipping cruising, even the option to fish. These unique sportsters match super-wide, all-welded runabout hulls with generous pontoon-style decks, and can be fully customized from a laundry list of value-added options.
A deck boat also has plenty of space, but its less ergonomic than that of a pontoon boat. This means that its meant more for simply having people on board, and not necessarily for having them socialize with one another.
